Rail Budget 2016: For women, more quotas and enhanced safety measures

Women have something to cheer about thanks to new announcements specifically for them in Railway minister Suresh Prabhu's second Rail Budget presented on Thursday.

The minister announced a 33% sub-quota for women in all reserved categories on trains. In addition, within all coaches, middle bays will be reserved for women to enhance security.

Prabhu said an all-India 24X7 helpline will be set up specifically for women.

For women with kids, Minister Prabhu said he will introduce a children's menu as well as baby food and hot milk at railway stations. New mothers will have 'baby boards' where they can change diapers with ease.
