President of the Trichy District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association N Kanagasabapathy on Monday welcomed the Union budget and said the allocation of Rs 1,804 crore for skill development, the announcement on setting up 1,500 multi-skill training institutes and massive open online courses for entrepreneurship education and training were good initiatives.
"The announcement of an enabling regulatory architecture to create 20 world class higher educational institutions, a higher education financing agency with an initial capital base of Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 1,700 crore for skill training institutes are welcome measures," said S Vaidhyasubramaniam, dean, Planning & Development, SASTRA University.
